Refunds & cancellation
How to stop paying, what happens when you do, and how refunds work.

Cancelling
Go to Billing and open the billing portal. Cancel there. It takes a few seconds and doesn't require emailing anyone.
There's no contract and no minimum term. Plans renew monthly or annually, as shown before you purchase.
When it takes effect
Cancelling stops the next payment. It does not cut you off immediately — you keep your plan, and its full monthly allowance, until the end of the period you've already paid for.
After that your account drops to the free plan. It isn't deleted, and neither are your briefings.
What happens to your briefings
Briefings you've already made stay in your account, and your private feed keeps working on the free plan's terms.
If you want everything gone rather than just downgraded, delete your account from Settings → Your data. The live-service deletion is immediate and permanent; encrypted disaster-recovery backups expire under the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
Refunds
If Hilo didn't do what it said it would — briefings failing, the feed not delivering, being charged for something you didn't get — write to support@usehilo.com and you'll be refunded. No argument.
Outside of that, payments already made aren't automatically refunded, because cancelling already stops the next one and you keep what you paid for until the period ends.
That said: if you subscribed and then realised straight away it wasn't for you, just ask. A person reads that address.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Stripe retries it over the following days and emails you. Your plan stays active while that's happening — a single failed charge doesn't lock you out.
If it never goes through, the subscription ends and your account moves to the free plan.
